0:00.0	Welcome to the Feminate Podcast. This is Nancy Wilson. So glad you join me today. The topic today is
0:12.5	friendship. And since that is such a big topic, we're just going to do a flyby about a few
0:18.0	aspects of Christian or biblical friendship. All right, first things first.
0:24.5	A Christian is a friend of God, and that is obviously our top priority. A right relationship with God
0:32.3	is going to order all our other relationships. How do we know we're friends with God? Jesus said in John 1514,
0:41.0	You are my friends if you do whatever I command you. If we are friends with Jesus, we obey him,
0:48.7	we follow him, we do what He commands us. And if we are our friends with Jesus, we are not friends with the world.
0:58.0	So there is a dividing line, a very clear one. James 44 says adulterers and adulteresses. Do you not know
1:08.1	that friendship with the world is enmity with God?
1:12.9	Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
1:18.5	This is very cut and dry, this is very black and white.
1:22.5	We're either going to be friends with God and enemies to the world,
1:30.1	or we'll be friends with the world and make ourselves enemies of God, which is a terrifying thought. So given that, we should be very thoughtful and
1:37.1	diligent about our earthly friendships. We should cultivate our friendship with God as our priority
1:42.5	and order all our other friendships, considering
1:46.2	that primary relationship. Those friendships are certainly, of course, downstream from our friendship
1:54.0	with God. So, how do we order those other creaturely friendships? You know, we could spend weeks talking about
2:02.7	friendship with God and what it means to obey his commands, but not today. We're going to talk
2:09.3	about those human friendships that we have with one another. In Proverbs 1226 says the righteous
2:15.6	should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked
2:20.2	leads them astray. Of course, we should just be very careful about friendships. I think I've shared
2:28.4	this somewhere along the way that my mom said, get to know everybody and then choose your friends. Don't just fall into friendships.
