Thanks so much for joining me today.

I thought today I would encourage you in the area of your prayers.

We want to be a praying people, obviously, because prayer is the natural response of a forgiven sinner who wants to be in constant communion with his father, God. And we were created to be in this relationship with our creator, and he sent us a savior who's made a way for us to approach God. So we want to be

women of the Word and women of prayer, and not to take this lightly. It's a tremendous privilege to

bring our prayers and bring them boldly to God in Christ. So here are just a few things that I hope will be an encouragement to you. When I went to

look at the scriptures, I came up with a few interesting, obviously it's a huge topic, and this is

going to be just a short podcast. But I've divided it up a little bit based on 1 Timothy 2, 1 and 2.

He says, therefore, I exhort, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions,

and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority,

that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

Notice these four categories of prayers.

And that's what I want to focus on.

Supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks.

Obviously, I don't think these are watertight categories,

but it's good to think about each one and just take a brief look

at what each one means or what it's for. Paul says we're to pray for all men, or all kinds of men,

especially singling out our rulers in this passage. So we should remember to pray for our president

and his cabinet all the way down to our local mayor and council members,

just to make this part of our prayer life to remember them and pray for them.

So of these four categories, the first one Paul mentions is supplications.
