Last week I spoke about friendship and I thought I'd just continue that topic today by looking at some of the challenges of friendship among women.

Obviously, we want all of our friendships to glorify God. So we don't want to just drift into them, but pray for God's guidance

and blessing, and then we should conduct them our friendships according to His Word and His

wisdom. Mothers have to help their daughters navigate friendships

by instructing them on this big topic

and paying close attention to their children's friendships.

We are social creatures and we love to have friends

and we need to have friends.

We were made to have friends.

So if we want to have friends, we were made to have friends. So if we want to have friends,

we have to be friendly. As Proverbs 1824 says, a man who has friends must himself be friendly,

but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Friendship is, of course, an area

where there can be much selfishness and sin. We're

naturally selfish creatures, but by the grace of God, we can learn to be godly and humble in our

friendships instead of being a self-centered and demanding friend. In fact, that's the opposite of friendship.

Paul exhorts us in Philippians 2, 3 and 4,

let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind,

let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own

interest, but also for the interest of others. Though this is a

broad command to all believers in relation to all believers, there are certainly applications for
