Summary

In 2011 the Capital Gazette daily newspaper out of Annapolis, Maryland published a revealing exposé on the dangers of social media entitled, “Jarrod Wants to Be Your Friend.” The piece recounted one man’s relentless cyber harassment of a former high school acquaintance through Facebook. Though the article was originally intended to warn readers of the false sense of intimacy social media provides people we may not actually know - it quickly snowballed into something much worse. After 7 years of detailed threats of violence and a defamation lawsuit against the Capital Gazette, Jarrod W. Ramos finally took his war of words beyond the computer screen and into the newspaper offices at 888 Bestgate Road on June 28th, 2018 - in one of the state’s most horrific mass killings.  Written by Michael Dunphy Jr., Executive Produced by Michael Ojibway.
