Summary

We rarely see the critical warning signs of someone suffering from a debilitating mental illness until the symptoms have entirely consumed the individual to the point of noticeable change or decline. 26 year-old Buckey Wolfe of Seattle, WA was one of these people. His escalating reclusion & his growing obsession with the dark corners of the internet compounded his sickness. There were surely warning signs that Buckey Wolfe was becoming unhinged, but when he began falling down the endless rabbit hole of internet conspiracy theories, Buckey believed he was personally under attack. This perceived “targeted individual” sadly would never make it back to reality...and his unraveled manic behavior was broadcast to YouTube for all the world to see. Right up until he decided he was sent by God to save the world, using none other than his weapon of choice - a 3 foot long Samurai sword. Mental health. It's undoubtedly a recurring theme on this podcast, as well as almost every other one in the true crime realm.

and psychological wellness, or unwellness, as is usually the case. Perhaps what's equally intriguing as it is frightening when exploring mental health and criminality is the fact that the warning signs, symptoms, or the potential for violent danger are almost never visible on the surface.

Recent studies actually show that only 3-5% of violent acts can be attributed back to those living with any sort of severe mental illness.

2:38.0

In fact, it's been confirmed that most violent crimes occurred not by the hands of those who are mentally ill, but more from those with ties to criminal past or those who have grown up in violent environments, a reality that is often misunderstood or misconstrued.
