After a multi-month break, episode nine of the January 6th hearings aired live yesterday.

The Democratic-led committee showed previously unseen footage of lawmakers phoning for

help while in lockdown, secret service messages anticipating violence, and testimony that

then President Trump's decision to reject election results was, quote, premeditated,

not based on evidence.

The hearing ended with the committee voting nine to zero to subpoena Trump for documents

and testimony under oath, a significant escalation.

The committee can't bring criminal charges, but is considering criminal referrals for

quote, multiple people, and they've promised specific recommendations to, quote, prevent

January 6th from happening again.

A final report is expected to be released before the panel formally expires on January 3rd.
