The Supreme Court issued a ruling with big implications for November's election.

The Supreme Court made a key decision yesterday.

It will allow South Carolina to use a disputed voting map, which critics say excludes black voters.

The Court's conservative majority reversed to finding that South Carolina's legislature had drawn its voting maps based on race.

That's known as a racial gerrymander, which is unconstitutional.

The map exiled thousands of black voters to another district to carve out one that was safer for a white Republican incumbent.

But the Supreme Court ruled that the map was based on politics, not race, and that means it isn't unconstitutional.

The decision marked a victory for Republicans.

It helps them in an election year as they try to maintain control of the House. And the ruling will also make it more difficult for voters nationwide to challenge

gerrymandered maps.

Number two, the International Court of Justice will rule today on Israel's invasion of Rafa.

South Africa requested that the UN's top court order Israel to cease military operations in Gaza.

That includes its offensive in the southern city of Rafa.

This is part of a case that South Africa brought against Israel late last year, accusing it of genocide.

In January, the court ordered Israel to do more to prevent the killing and harm of Palestinian

civilians in the war.

Israel is under increasing international pressure as another court this week moved to seek arrest

warrants for senior Israeli officials as well as leaders of Hamas.

But Israel said it would not comply with a ruling against it at the ICJ.
