3. And wow, what a great section this is because Solomon has already been described as somebody who loves the Lord,

somebody that wants to worship the Lord, he's gone to Gibeon, somebody that wants to make sacrifices

to the Lord in a big way. He sacrifices a thousand sacrifices. So it's very obvious and public that Solomon has a desire to know the Lord,

to follow the Lord, to honor the Lord. And even though he's making some decisions like marrying

Pharaoh's daughter that seems to be a contractual political marriage, And even though he's offering sacrifices at times

on the high places, it's not because of rebellion as much as it is just because of cultural

ignorance. And what we find in 1st Kings 3 is this astounding dream that the lord allows him to have in which

god appears to solomon and asks him solomon what do you want what can i give you

and as i said last episode what an amazing what an amazing offer because the Lord, unlike you and me, has the ability

and the resource to make good on that kind of an offer. What's Solomon going to say?

And before Solomon gives any answer, he frames his answer in two ways. Number one,

he frames his answer by saying, God, you've already been good to me. You've been good to my dad.
