would you get started by telling us a little bit about yourself and what you do? Sure. So I am a

psychology professor in New York University, and I'm an

expert in studying uncomfortable conversations people have. And this can be anything from talking to

your physician or your dentist, to asking your boss for a raise, to having a negotiation with someone who comes from a different

country and you have no idea how to interpret their behaviors, what their cultural norms are,

but you know you want to win the thing. And so you're tiptoeing around kind of a lot of potential

taboos. And I've been studying these interactions for about 20 years all over the world, really, starting in the U.S., but also I've gone to Abu Dhabi.
