Summary

I stumbled across this clip from my conversation with Peter Crone and was struck by how clearly it captures something I now see in almost every client I work with. Peter explains how many of the beliefs driving our behaviour were formed in childhood — and how those unconscious stories keep us stuck in cycles of fear, overthinking, and self-doubt.

This isn’t about fixing yourself — it’s about seeing through the mental patterns that feel true but aren’t. That’s the heart of the coaching work I now do: helping people drop the noise, reconnect with their inner wisdom and and move forward with more flow and ease.

If that sounds like something you’d like to explore, I offer 1:1 coaching — to book a free consultation here: https://calendly.com/simon-wgw/find-your-flow-intro-chat

to someone commented on the YouTube version of our chat. And I was really struck by how

0:04.2

helpfully it reflects the coaching work I now do. In this clip, Peter and I talk about how the

0:10.4

thinking mind unconsciously forms limiting beliefs, often in early childhood, and how those

0:16.5

unconscious patterns then shape the way we think, feel and act as we get older. They create fear,

0:23.1

dysfunction and keep us stuck in self-defeating patterns. And seeing that is the start of getting

0:29.0

back in inner alignment, which is at the core of the work I now do. So what we're talking about

0:34.0

here isn't surface level mindset work or positive psychology.

0:43.3

It's about getting underneath the noise, identifying the core misperceptions that are running the show,

0:47.2

and then gently steering you back to a place of inner alignment.

0:53.8

That is the heart of my coaching work, helping people release the old stories they are living by and reconnect with their

0:55.7

innate inner wisdom so that you can move through life with more ease, presence and flow. So it's

1:02.9

not about fixing anything. It's about freeing up what is always there, just hidden.

1:11.5

Most people, by virtue of the way that the brain's designed, it's really sort of a prediction

1:16.5

machine and then a protection machine based on its own predictions, you know, which when

1:20.6

you really break it down is sort of rather nonsensical, and that's what we could call the

1:24.3

self-fulfilling prophecy of the mind. So the brain is predicting an outcome, which invariably is not good, and then the same brain is trying to calculate and figure out how to avoid what it just predicted. You know, you just start to wonder, like, well, it's not, you know, the way I was going to say is actually you then don't wonder why people have a drinking problem or they need some sort of medication.

1:45.4

You know, it's like madness.

1:46.2

Like my, the one brain is creating concern for a future that hasn't happened yet.

1:50.8

And then the same brain that created the worst case scenario is trying to come up with a solution.

1:54.6

It's like, no wonder you're freaking exhausted, you know.

1:59.0

So it was a great way of putting it.

2:00.9

Yeah. So unfortunately, most people way of putting it. Yeah.
