The headlines from Reuters tells a story that's unpredictable.

Macron, Emmanuel Macron, the President of France twice elected, extremely effective as a third way.

Macron warns podcast of, quote, civil war, that's quote,

risk as French elections loom.

I welcome Judy Dempsey, the editor-in-chief of Strategic Europe for the

Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. She's in Berlin. She is an Irish

woman who helps me understand the European Tangle and I was doing okay until along comes McCrone after the EU election.

I thought the story was about the rise of the populist parties,

not in any way a majority rise but calling to attention the unhappiness about the Ukraine

war, the energy picture, and the immigration.

And then the president of France calls an election. Now I give up and go to Judy.

McCrone is not known as an excitable person in the language of other provocateurs we can think of who are leading nations.

However, the use of the word civil war puzzled me.
