Kelly was an NFL cheerleader, and it was one of about 8 jobs she held in college! She was a competitive dancer and cheerleader growing up and went to a Division III college. Instead of cheering for her school, she auditioned for The Eagles. After graduating school, she joined a Fortune 500 company at an entry level sales position. Here, she worked very hard and was promoted 7 times in 8 years! Kelly loved her corporate experience, unlike many other entrepreneurs. Kelly Roach discusses her mindset around valuing every experience and opportunity, as these contributed to her learning to get to where she is now.

Former cheerleader Kelly Roach and I talk about how sales is the number one skill entrepreneurs need, and leadership is the number two skill. Kelly’s outlook is that almost everything is sales, from your career to other aspects of life, like your family.

When Kelly started her own business, she was honest with her corporate job about starting her business and they decided to keep her on. She started her business and ran it on the side while continuing her day job. Once her business was large enough, she transitioned to her consulting business full time.

As Kelly was building her consulting business, she started with one on one consulting, scaled to masterminds, and has scaled even more. I asked Kelly how she was able to scale and become so successful so quickly, and she speaks of her tenacity and how she built a great team. Her best advice is to do what you’re called to do and not wait for the claps.

Kelly and I discuss how rewarding it has been for us and our families that we’ve been able to retire our spouses. Kelly was able to retire her husband when her business took off and it was a game changer for her family. Kelly and I are able to run our businesses while having a calm and free home life.
