On today’s podcast I had Terrell Owens on. Terrell Owens is a former hall of fame football player now turned entrepreneur! We talked about what is was like building his NFL career and all the things he had to go through. We talked about his three D’s that led to his success. Ironically, how he didn’t even think he was going to get to the NFL, let alone be a hall of famer! It was pretty cool to hear his story along with what he’s got going on after football!

I met up with Terrell while I was in L.A.

Terrell Owens attributes his success and health to his three D’s - dedication, desire, and discipline. Terrell wasn’t highly recruited for football out of high school and ended up going to a small college. Terrell says that then, he was not a great player and took a lot of time to improve himself to earn more playing time. He was on the second and third teams, but took his workout programs very seriously. He was working out three times per day!

He hardly played during his freshman year and broke his collarbone during that time. Terrell Owens talks about how everyone wants immediate success, but don’t understand the amount of work required for that success. Terrell put in a lot of work over many years of playing football to build his talents for The Hall Of Fame.

Terrell tells all athletes he meets that the best ability is availability. What he means by that is no matter how much talent you have, you need to be able to perform. To go further on the topic, Terrell discusses how athletes need to talk care of themselves and consistently hone their skills in order to keep themselves available to perform.

Terrell Owens has since retired from the NFL and is pursing entrepreneurship. Terrell now has a wine company. The black community doesn’t typically drink wine, so talks about how he had to educate himself about all the different types of wines. The wine 81, includes fruits he enjoys and various flavors that complement the fruits. Terrell Owens is also pursing his own clothing brand and a candle company.
