Today this episode is for my fellow people pleasers.

Now to be honest, we all are people pleasers in some way.

Whether it's family members, friends, co-workers, it's a human thing.

However, and that however is in all caps, where people pleasing can be a bit troublesome

is when we do this at the expense of our sense of self.

When we lose sight of who we are because we've given so much to the people around us, or

we become so disconnected with how we feel because we're so focused on the feelings of

others.

Now we don't do this intentionally.

If there's anything I've learned on my own journey of self-discovery, it's that most

of these patterns emerge from our childhood.

In fact, the other day, a mentor of mine had shared about how in childhood, we often choose

attachment over authenticity.

And this is what can evolve into people pleasing when we become adults.

Choosing attachment means choosing connection with our caregivers in order to get our needs

met, to feel safe and to belong, instead of choosing what we need and what is most authentic

to us.

Now obviously as children, we don't know we're doing that.

But if you want to know why we do certain things as adults, we can often look to our childhood

to make sense of our behaviors.
