What's up folks? Welcome back to the epic gardening podcast. Today we're going into the world of hydroponics once again and we're going to talk about well I guess technically it's not just about hydroponics, but we're going to talk about foliar feeding. So when we think of hydroponic nutrients

and growing plants hydroponically,

it's easy to imagine that the only way

that we can feed our plants is to provide

their roots with a nutrient solution that is

carefully calibrated carefully monitored and so while this is the default best

option as a plant's root system is the most efficient part of the plant at

nutrient uptake it actually is not the only way to provide

your plants with nutrition. So if your plants are stressed or if their roots are damaged or

diseased, it might actually be time to look into something called

foliar feeding or providing nutrients to a plant through the foliage or vegetation of the plant

instead of the root system.

And what this does is it gives you more flexibility

when it comes to feeding your plants,

as well as it gives you the option to more effectively

solve nutrient deficiencies, which we've talked a lot about

on the podcast before.

And so let's go over a few different benefits of why you might want to do a foliar feed

instead of amending your nutrient reservoir.

And so when you're growing hydroponically,

it sometimes can be hard for a plant

to absorb some nutrients in the root zone.
