I am Jake Sherman. Anna is out this week. So buckle up. This should be very interesting and very exciting. Anna's watching somewhere on the edge of her seat, hoping that I don't screw this up. Lawmakers are back in Washington this week after a two-week recess with the Department of Homeland Security closed.

It is still closed one of the longest shutdowns in American history,

and there's no sign that it's going to open any time soon.

Since we've been off, there's been a failed attempt to get a deal with Iran.

President Trump is blockading the Strait of Formos,

and this week we had two high-profile congressional resignations. A pretty remarkable few weeks in the Capitol, to talk about

all of that and more. We have the senior senator from Virginia, the vice chair of the Senate

Intelligence Committee, Mark Warner. Joining us on our panel, Emily Wilkins of CNBC and Andrew DeSidario of Punch Bowl News.
