That's Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, announcing that starting Friday, the FAA will cut down flights at dozens of airports in the US if the government shutdown continues. 10% of air traffic at 40 airports would be cut, potentially impacting thousands of flights.

The announcement comes as air traffic controllers will miss their second full paycheck next week,

and some are taking second jobs to make ends meet or calling in sick in protest.

Meanwhile, there's some slightly more positive news on the plan to reduce SNAP benefits this month.

The Department of Agriculture is sending out revised guidance to states that will lead to people

on food stamps getting a bit more of the reduced benefits. In a new court filing, the update

calls for cutting the maximum benefit by 35 percent, instead of the original 50 percent. That's

after a court order requiring the USDA to tap into SNAP's contingency fund during the government shutdown.
