0:00.0	Hey, welcome to the Tom Ferry Show. We're closing in on the end of the first quarter, and I'd like to do a quarterly review with you.
0:15.0	Before I jump into it though, I want to remind you
0:18.0	back in 1953 Yale University
0:21.0	they interviewed the graduating class of seniors and they asked them a whole bunch of
0:25.2	questions but the one that really stood out for me was this, do you have clear goals and a plan
0:30.7	to accomplish them? Well, no these you know kids coming out of college
0:35.1	97% no goals no plan 3% knew exactly what they wanted and had a rudimentary plan to go after it. Fast forward 20 years later.
0:47.0	In 1973, they re-interviewed the class to find out where do they stand? How are they doing?
0:53.0	Now you may have heard this before, but I'd love this study.
0:56.0	The 3% that had a goal and a plan, a way to go out and achieve their results,
1:01.0	had of course experienced more joy, more happiness, and of course greater
1:05.9	levels of success. The thing though that stood out for me was that 3% the 3% that
1:11.8	have a plan that knew what they wanted,
1:14.0	and they were going after it every day,
1:15.8	that group had a combined net worth
1:18.9	three times greater than all of the 97% combined.
1:24.0	Now, you and I both know, I'm a big fan of goal setting.
1:28.0	But when I read those kind of stats and those kind of stories,
1:31.0	it really makes me think,
1:32.0	was it just setting the goal right did
1:35.2	they just say I want to make a hundred thousand I want to make a million I want to
1:39.0	grow my business to X did they just do that and write out a plan I've seen plenty of people grab a yellow notepad,
