We joined Dicabond at the party at the Vantassans talking with the older men in the corner about their stories of war.

And ghosts, particularly the headless horsemen.

Two similar stories were told of the spect how racing them towards the chert-chart bridge before disappearing in a flash.

As the guests laughed, Dicabond remained to talk with Katrina and laughed quite dejected him.

It appeared she had tanned him down.

It was approaching midnight before he plodded home.

And ever the superstitions, the ghost stories were catching up with Dicabond.

Crossing a bridge over a stream on his old horse, he felt a looming presence and looked up to see a large figure nearby.

It was too dark to see much aside from a person on horseback.

Spooked never the last.

He kicked the horse into motion and the figure followed alongside him.

He tried to speed up to get away, but the mystery ride-out matched his pace.

He tried to slow down to lag behind and so did his companion.
