Hello and welcome to the sleepy book shelf where we put down our worries from the day and pick up a good book.

In our last episode we read the final pages of the Great Gatsby.

It was such a pleasure to be able to read this incredibly famous American novel. I really hope you enjoyed listening to it

Nick tried to contact Daisy as soon as he could after Gatsby's body was found, but he was told they'd gone away and had left no onward

address.

Desperately he tried Mayor Wolfsheim, but no one could get hold of him on the telephone, so he sent a letter by way of the butler.

The response sent his apologies, but assured Nick that he couldn't get involved.

This was reiterated again when Nick went to see him in his office. After three days a Henry C. Gats arrived, confirming he was

Gatsby's father. He had seen the announcement in the Chicago newspaper and had come all the way

from Minnesota.

He was the only family at Gatsby's funeral, and Nick was his only friend until Owl Eyes joined them at the last minute.

Nick planned to move back west.

He met with Jordan one last time to gain closure on their relationship. She told him she was engaged to another man already.

He saw Tom once more on Fifth Avenue and refused to shake his hand.

Tom told him that Wilson had knocked on his door that night with his hand on a revolver, and Tom had told him where to go, believing

Gatsby had been driving the car. Nick could only say it wasn't true.

Gatsby's house had been locked up,

his lawn overgrowing.
