Texas jury sentenced Tanner Horner to death in the 2022 kidnapping and murder of seven-year-old Athena Strand.

Horner pleaded guilty to the crime just moments before his trial began last month,

sending the case to the sentencing phase where the jury watched and listened to video and audio of Athena Strand's last moments.

Horner was working as a FedEx driver November 30th, 2022, and went to Athena's home to deliver a Christmas gift.

Investigators say he accidentally struck the girl while backing out of the driveway.

And when he got back in the truck, Horner covered the van's camera.

But audio captured the seven-year-old asking him, what are you doing?

Are you a kidnapper?

Horner can be heard telling the crying child to take off her shirt

before capturing sounds of the attack, including banging, screaming, crying, and choking. Horner told

investigators he strangled her at a fear she would tell her father. Athena's body was found two days
