In July 2020, a Miami mother allegedly logged onto a website and filled out a forum asking for the murder of her own three-year-old son.

Investigators say she provided photos, a location, and a deadline requesting the killing be carried out within days.

But the website she turned to, Rentahitman.com, was not real.

It was a parody that alerted law enforcement and stopped the plan before

it could turn deadly. The young mother ultimately avoided jail time, was sentenced to strict

probation and mandatory mental health treatment while her child was placed in the care of family.

Joining me today to help us understand how a solicitation for murder

ended in a second chance is seasoned criminal defense attorney

and former Miami-Dade prosecutor Amelia Revello.

For those listeners who may not know or aren't

familiar with this case because it did originally happen a couple years ago in 2023.

Walk us through the basic facts here and what happened. So this is a really interesting case.

Basically back in 2023, this individual Yasmin Paez, essentially used a parody website,

which a lot of people have come to known in recent years called rent-a-hitman.com, which is a

parody website owned by this individual Bob Inez. And he basically made this website to try to help

the government catch people that are trying to hire hitmen.

It's kind of a crazy concept. And he's obviously been successful because Jasmine, just to get

some background on her, she had, she's a teen mom. She was in a relationship with this individual

who, I guess, encouraged her to get rid of her child.
