In Louisiana, a man was arrested in connection to an alleged murder in Sarasota, Florida.

Also in Louisiana, a woman was arrested after a newborn died from non-accidental trauma. In Maine, sheriff's deputies responded to a reported assault and found a man dead and another injured.

And in Florida, a teenager was charged with manslaughter after allegedly beating his father to death.

On Tuesday, February 4th at around 8 p.m., officers with the Sarasota Police Department in Florida

were called to the Lyra apartments on the 2,200 block of Ringling Drive for a requested welfare check.

Once officers had arrived on the scene, they tried to establish contact with the resident of the apartment in question, but were unable to garner any response.

After speaking with the manager of the complex, officers were able to obtain a key to make entry

into the dwelling.

Officers made their way inside and there.

They found a woman dead.

The name of the victim hasn't been released, but it was determined fairly quickly that

she was the victim of a homicide.

Investigators responded to the scene and began looking into the woman's death.

They were able to quickly identify a potential suspect in the case, that being 41-year-old John McGordon.
