Hi, again, this is Steve Clow. I'm the editor of our podcast, The Trials of Frank Carson, and I'm here

with the reporter and host Christopher Gawford of the Los Angeles Times. Hi, Steve. Well, this is our

final bonus episode. We get to the outcome of this marathon trial, which resulted in acquittals

for Frank Carson and the Atwal Brothers. But But Chris, I want to start with a question

that you probably cannot answer with certainty, and that is, who killed Cory Kaufman? Do we know?

I don't think we will ever get good answers to that question, Steve. The only person convicted in connection

with Cory Kaufman's death is Robert Woody. And as you hear in the

last minutes of the last episode, he told me that he made it all up to get back to his family.

And authorities say they had the right people, so they wouldn't see a need for further investigation.

It's a closed case officially. So unless some

evidence comes out somehow implicating someone definitively, we will never know. So we know going back

to the beginning that at one point nine people had been charged in connection with Cory Kaufman's death.

We know that Frank Carson was acquitted. We know the Atwal brothers were acquitted of murder.

And I wonder if you could just quickly remind us the disposition of all the other original defendants.

Yeah, so Robert Woody pleads no contest.

Carson's wife and stepdaughter are released at the end of the preliminary hearing,

and that leaves the CHP officers.
