Summary

Time for Fan Mail Friday, where we'll be answering your questions and dropping some knowledge and feedback to help you kick the weekend off right. Let's cut to it! In this episode: Feel like your resume is lacking in experience? Show 'em what you can build. More listener endorsements for the virtues of dual enrollment (something we wish we'd found out about sooner)! A listener brings some great advice to the "why do bad bosses happen to good employees?" discussion from Fan Mail Friday #76. When you're just starting out in the entertainment industry, how do you mingle and network with the rich and successful in your field when you barely have two pennies to your name? [Relevant reference: Nev Medhora | How to Crash Parties and Grow Your Network (Episode 390)] Two years into a mostly perfect relationship in which you motivate each other to be your best selves -- but the sex just doesn't happen as much as it used to. What do you do? Quick shoutouts to: Dena -- James Swanwick's girlfriend who listens to AoC religiously and says it's just slightly better than his podcast -- and Kevin Rapp (happy belated birthday)! All right let's cut to it. As a recent college grad I was a biology major with only one lab assistant

experience and some math tutoring. I'm not sure if I should start a LinkedIn or online profile since

0:55.9

it's not as impressive as what others put out there. I'm just focusing on improving my craft

and learning programming so I can stand out over other recent biology grads while at the same time

networking with the department professors I work with. If you have any advice I'd be very grateful.

Thanks for your podcast. It helped me through a breakup and made me want to be the best version

of myself since the first time I heard it. Signed JL. Hey thanks for the note JL. My advice on this

1:19.9

is to build something. Nothing kicks another resume's butt like an actual product that solves

1:26.4

even a small problem. I wouldn't even look at other resumes if someone showed me something they built

1:32.4

no matter how simple it was. So many people can list a lot of things on a resume but what most people

1:37.9

can't do is show that they figure out how to identify and solve a problem. That alone will set you
