Summary

Time for Fan Mail Friday, where we'll be answering your questions and dropping some knowledge and feedback to help you kick the weekend off right. Let's cut to it! In this episode: What news sources do we trust to keep us informed about current events? If you're still in college, is a long distance relationship a worthwhile pursuit -- or will it just hold you back from achieving other goals? Is there such a thing as too much personal development? Can someone really become unknowingly deficient in relationship skills because they're too absorbed in their own journey? How does one get started in the industry of self-help and personal growth? When your estranged parents reach out and want to visit you on the other side of the ocean, is it wrong to tell them that now's not a good time? Quick shoutouts to Mitch, a producer at a studio Jordan used (he turned out to be an AoC fan just by coincidence!) and Chris Johnson, who's deciding whether or not to do his own podcast now that he sees some of the work that goes into it! Have any questions, comments, or stories you'd like to share with us? Drop us a line at [email protected]! in-depth and longer formats, so check out the best of at theartofcharm.com slash best or the

body language and nonverbal communication, attraction, negotiation, networking, influence,

0:50.1

just seemed to be relatively well informed on a lot of subjects, but never mention others. I'm

0:54.6

inclined to think you're staying on topic for purposes of the show rather than simply ignorant of a

0:58.9

lot of things. For example, you hinted mentions of terrorism and international events without

1:03.9

focusing on them, which leads me to believe you're well versed on world affairs, yet focused on

1:08.4

delivering content for us listeners of the show. Thanks for that. I'm curious, though. What news

1:13.7

sources do you use? How do you educate yourself aside from books? Signed Curious George.

1:19.8

Hey, Curious George. Look, I'm on what's called the low information diet. What that means or the

1:25.7

lid? That's how I refer to it sometimes. It means I don't bother watching the news. I don't

1:29.5

Google results. I don't look for anything as a matter of sort of absent-minded reading. I don't

1:35.2

really do that. The news cycle is designed to cause stress because what gets your attention are

1:40.8

things like fear, stress, anxiety. So that's it's not just when you watch the news, you get anxiety

1:46.1

because all this stuff's going on. It's designed to get you to be in those different sort of adrenal
