So today, we're going to be talking about the American Board of Surgery's new family-leave

policy. And if you haven't already, I would highly encourage you to listen to our last episode,

which was released on November 1st, discussing pregnancy and parenthood during surgery training.

It's an amazing discussion, and I think truly a muscleist, and for all surgeons,

I've actually listened to it multiple times already myself.

So Dr. Baiski, the ABS requires 48 weeks of full-time clinical activity in each of the five

years of residency, and that's regardless of the amount of operative experience obtained.

Now, the remaining four weeks of the year are considered non-clinical time,

confused for any purposes, like the patient's conferences, interviews, etc.

And before this new policy, residents could take an additional two weeks off during their first

three years of residency and additional two weeks off during their last two years of residency,
