Dr. Berg talks about false hunger pangs when doing intermittent fasting, This is higher levels of cortisol, the adrenal hormone. This spikes at 8 am because of the circadian rhythm of this hormone. This is not because of a lack of food, but simply a hormonal temporary shift, which raises and then lowers the blood sugars. This hunger pain will go away within 30-60 minutes.

Hi guys, I want to talk about something called false hunger

0:39.0

when you're doing it in a minute fasting,

0:41.0

which basically is not that you're deprived of nutrients, your stomach is just growling and your blood sugars might have dipped down a little bit.

0:49.0

Now this relates to the adrenal gland. There's a whole circadian wave or rhythm of cortisol. And cortisol

0:57.0

is the main adrenal hormone and it spikes if it's normal around 8 o'clock in the morning. So a lot of people when they do intimate fasting

1:04.4

right around the morning, they might get hunger pains for about an hour, okay? That's because

1:10.3

the spike of cortisol will then lower your blood sugars because it's it'll

1:15.1

spike insulin a little bit and it drops down and then you're going to be a

1:19.1

little hungry. What you have to realize is that it's cortisol, it's not a lack of a nutrient.

1:24.4

And so you just have to push through that and then it gets better.

1:27.6

Some of the things you can do to help that is keep improving your adrenal function and also nutritional yeast will also help keep

1:36.1

this in check. This usually happens when your cortisol is maybe too spiked, but if it's normal

1:41.6

it shouldn't do that. All right? Thanks for watching.
