I remember I was riding the bus one time and when I got on and sat down there was a sign above the bus driver's head that said things like I will not punch, I will not cuss, I will not kick.

It was like a placard with a list of rules.

And so it said things like that, I will not bite, I will not punch, I will not kick,

but then it said under it because I'm the bus driver and then as

if to drive it home it said because I'm the bus driver I'm the bus driver and when you read it you realize it's a joke but it's a joke

that plays off a principle we all understand that this identity of bus driver

carries with its certain activities,

the least of which is to not bite people on the bus, right?

But that identity carries with certain activities.

We all understand that.

We've all been at the grocery store.

I was just there yesterday, and you've seen a little kid ask for something

or demand some candy and not get it.

And when the tragedy dawns on them that they will have to go without,

they access their emotional resources and what do they do?

But I want it, I remember watching the kid just drop,

his knees gave out and his mom was just holding him

as he twisted around her in agony like,
