Well, when I was a couple years out of college I got a phone call from my sister who was living in Europe at the time and she said hey a friend of mine and I are traveling to Italy we're going to go spend a few days there, but we've done no research, have no

place to stay, have no plan, so we need you to figure out what we're supposed to do and where

we're supposed to stay and then fly over to Rome and meet us by that statue of that one guy. And in hindsight it was

brilliant what she was doing because she was my baby sister and she knew the

thought that having my baby sister not know the language not know what she's doing

and just show up vulnerable into a foreign country

would send panic in the heart of her older brother and she was right

and she knew as a planner that panic would lead me to study

create a plan for her vacation.

And I did that.

So I went that night to Barnes and Noble,

and I grabbed every single book on Italy and began to study and did it for the next several nights as long as I could before the trip and quickly discovered that most of these travel books were complete garbage.

For two reasons.

Number one is they were filled with adjectives.

Just flowery language describing what you would see and how majestic it is and glorious

and transcendent and I'm reading it like, I don't need your adjectives as you look at the art.

I'm about to see it. I'll come up with my own adjectives.

I need you to tell me how to navigate the airport because I don't speak the language.
