So I was thinking about how the artistic impulse kind of like gets pulled through generations

and what the difference is between being a capital A artist whose work is seen and talked about

and maybe canceled as Vivian's work does get canceled and being like a person behind closed doors, like private with your family and how the artist lives and thinks without being on the internet or as part of an algorithm or a kind of trend.

author of the novel Vivian, and forthcoming, we find out out she's writing another novel that comes out next year.

The novel's been out for a while, so we talked about a little bit about it,

but even more about what it's like to release a novel now and how the internet shapes the way

we make and share art and why discomfort is actually essential and not something to avoid,

both in personal growing and in an art sort of a way.

We talk about, it gets a bit philosophical, to be honest, and it goes in many directions,

which, you know, is nothing new here.
