I'm a professor and a writer who might have heard me on John Puglissang show talking

about issues of constitutional law or on Cherylina Maxwell's show talking about Roe versus Wade and its demise.

But today what I'm going to do is invite a few guests to talk about the issues that I focused on on these shows in more depth.

In my writing and teaching, I focused on issues of democracy,

what it means, how we can sustain it, and its fragility.

At this moment, those aren't abstract issues.

We've suffered through an insurrection that all evidence suggests

was incited by and even planned by a president trying to stay in power

even after he lost an election.

What political scientists call a self-coo was previously thought to be the stuff that happened in other countries,

but it's clear now that it was attempted here.

And the threat is ongoing.

It's a threat not just from Trump himself, although that is a serious threat, but also from Trumpism, a movement that uses lies and deceit that rejects reason and science, all in the service of electing a president

would cater to the worst instincts and prejudices of the American people.

So over the next two hours we're going to hear from a variety of people,

all unified by the desire to stop that threat,

to expose it, and to really resurrect our democracy

as fragile as it is.
