We begin with news that Blockbuster will launch a pilot program in June that will allow you to download movies from in-store kiosks and onto

portable devices in just two minutes. The company hopes to eventually get the download time

down to 30 seconds for a, quote, ATM-like experience. The country's largest video rental chain

is still in negotiations with Hollywood Studios, so it's hard to predict which films will be

available. The Blockbuster kiosk, it's hard to predict which films will be available.

The Blockbuster kiosk, it's worth noting, is designed by NCR, which also builds airline ticketing kiosks, which means that if rentals are $5, they'll be $4 if you rent from Newark.

Meanwhile, as your video store turns into an ATM for movies, your TiVo is turning into both

box office and TV critic. TiVo is turning into both box office and TV

critic. Tevo reached a deal last week to allow subscribers to rent Disney movies directly from their

TVs for a 24-hour period. They also announced that TiVo subscribers in Chicago will be able to

download the recommendations of Tribune Critic Maureen Ryan with just the click of a remote.
