It's easy to learn but takes years to master, and so many things in a man's life build off and are enhanced by this one crucial practice, even though it's something you're not really taught anymore in school.  Did you enjoy the podcast? So arguably one of the most important skills that you as a man can have, that you can commit to

0:07.8

developing, that you can learn how to hone within yourself, is the skill and the discipline of

0:14.8

learning how to think. And there's been many people, many philosophies, contemplative forms of religion that have looked at this, all the way from Aristotle and Seneca and Marcus Aurelius all the way up to, you know, the philosophies of Kant and modern day popular authors like David Foster Wallace.

If you're not familiar with David Foster Wallace, he wrote some books.

0:39.6

1:14.9

to have a logical and a rational mind and mindset is of high importance.

1:22.3

And there's nothing to devalue that, right?

1:25.0

The rational and logical mind can be quite important

1:27.6

within our daily functioning. Things like the intuitive mind, your gut, your intuitive intelligence

1:33.0

is incredibly important as well. There's a very famous quote by Albert Einstein that says

1:37.2

the rational mind is a faithful servant and the intuitive mind is a sacred gift. And we have

1:42.9

built a culture that has forgotten the gift and honors the servant.

1:47.6

And so in some ways what Einstein is saying is, you know, your rational mind is the servant

1:52.3

to your intuitive mind. But that doesn't mean that we should not learn how to use it effectively,

1:59.2
