making common cause with his allies in South America and around the world.

And even, we're told anecdotally, a happy exchange with the President of the United States.

The news from Brazil. Bolsonaro's legal team asked

for his release from house arrest. Bolsonaro is the previous president. It goes on to say

Bolsonaro has been under house arrest since August of this year, or failing to comply with

restraining orders related to his alleged courting of U.S. President

Donald Trump to interfere in the case in which he was accused to plotting a coup to remain in

power after losing the 20-22 election.

Bolsonaro was later convicted in the case and sentenced to 27 years and three months in prison.

Professor, this case is lawfare.

That is not an opinion that goes this way or that.

It's just generally a category used now.

You use legal means to disenfranchise political rivals is a useful tool, especially if you can hang it on.

The judicial system in Brazil, the judicial system seems to be extraordinary to my experience

because the conviction in this court, 27 years and three months, was done by Supreme Court

justices led by a man named D. Marais,

who's known to be outspoken about Bolsonaro and the previous administration.

And there was a descending judge on the case who wrote a lengthy document in which the document says the major allegations
