I'm John Batchew with my colleague, Professor Abenalis of the U.S. Army War College Strategic Studies Institute.

Venezuela.

Professor, I report to you what I've learned over these last days and what I've gotten tangled up in.

What I've learned is that there was a parade or a demonstration of military

significance in downtown Caracas, including tanks. And the parade was meant to demonstrate the

size and capabilities of the Venezuelan military. Why? Because the flotilla reported these last week,

somewhere between the coast of Venezuela and Puerto Rico, continues at sea. And the implicit threat

is that Maduro, the illegitimate president and of the regime in Caracas, is the head of a cartel,

the cartel of the sun in English, and must be surrendered by authorities either in Venezuela or

outside of Venezuela to prosecution as a narco-terror gang boss.

That presumption Bolsonaro, Maduro, has rejected.

However, the U.S. continues to press its case.

There is that $50 million bounty on his hand.

As of now, there's no resolution, but there have been kinetic events. Three or four, I'm unclear,

Professor. Boats that are said to, alleged to have been drug-running boats, have been destroyed

by order of the precedent, I'm told. The explanation for this is that they, drug boats can be considered an attack on New York

and or I'm also unclear what else is said.

However, a question raised is, where is Congress, where is the declaration that we're at war with Venezuela?

Why are they not using what would be a customary way to intercept a suspect

boat that you have eyes on, obviously, that's why we've seen video, by intercepting with a

Coast Guard vessel or something equivalent to that, detaining and prosecuting.

That's the normal way to do it.
