senior scholar for the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, looking at the contest between

Donald Trump's Liberation Day, April, and now Liberation Day 2.0 in July.

And the ambitions of the European Union and especially of her merits the Chancellor of all the Germans.

There is a striking headline in the Financial Times in these last days,

last hours. Trump tariffs. Germany warns EU ready to retaliate unless U.S. reaches, quote,

fair trade deal. Good for Germany. I believe your German finance minister has played poker once in a while, because right now he's looking at Mr. Trump and saying, I dare you.

One of the observations at the F.T. is repeating, and we've heard this for a couple of months, after the original Liberation Day with the White Board and the big rollout at the White House, the market sold off severely.

It got the president's attention, and you will note that the stalling and we give you an extra weekend, you know, the sort of teacher games you play with people who are late with their term papers.

And now we have 2.0. And I'm not sure

other parts of the EU understand what the German finance minister understands. Trump doesn't

entirely mean it. The new date is August 1st, midnight, and that is when the tariffs will go into

effect.

Your measure of the Merritt's government, do they believe that Donald Trump will do what damage he did in April again?

But they're essentially saying, we have no idea anymore where you stand.

You have these 10% tariffs.

You have to 20%, then you slap heavy tariffs on Japan and South Korea.
