This is CBS, I in the world, I'm John Bachelor. The farmers of Europe, the protests have been in the news for months and months and will continue.

Large protests in Berlin, for example, beautiful tractors and farm implements driven

into the center of town, protesting.

In Rome, beautiful, beautiful machinery, all shiny driven into the center of Rome and protesting in Paris, especially once, twice driven into the

center of Paris and protesting. That's enough, but there was also a protest in the Netherlands

that tied up a lot of traffic going into the ports.

Judy Dempsey, the editor-in-chief of Strategic Europe, is here to help me understand these protests all knitted together all in communication with each other.

This is the farm vote of the European Union.

We're coming to a critical vote for the European Union representatives.

The farmers are a small percentage of the output of Europe, the GDP,

but there are very large telling publicly because of these protests, because everybody eats, and because the farms have long been

cosseted by some governments. I'm thinking of the French government. Judy, a very good day to you.

Are the protests in Germany by the farmers around Berlin?

Is that considered a one-offoff or have they always been a major

factor when it comes to the the election the EU election or the German election good

evening to you good evening John and thank you as always for having me on your show.

Well, the farmers, it's a kind of new phenomenon

to have always been there, but not on the scale of the protests

and the most recent one was in Brussels, the capital of the, not only of Belgium, but of the EU,

European Union institutions.

And the farmers have a really gripe, actually.
