This week we finally check in on the ESPN Michael Jordan docuseries, The Last Dance,

and I draft my old friend Hayes Permar, radio host, and sports fanatic for the job.

The series has drawn record-breaking ratings and given ESPN something to celebrate in a world

without live sports.

Permar asked director Jason Hare whether Jordan finally released never-before-seen footage

for the series to position himself above LeBron James as the greatest of all time.

Do you really think that's the overwhelming reason that he decided to do it

right now, or do you think it's more complicated than that? I think it's less complicated than that.

I don't think that that's the reason why at all. I think if that were the case, then that would come

from a place of insecurity on Michael's part, and Michael is the least insecure person I've ever met

in my life. Hair tells us about sitting four hours with the inscrutable Michael Jordan,

the epic hustle to get episodes done months earlier than planned because of the pandemic,

and explains why he's glad ESPN allowed the F-bombs to fly.
