Now, I know when I just said the word metaphors, I could almost hear some of you rolling

your eyes. After all, we often hear

people say, or maybe we've said it ourselves, well, that's only a metaphor. But what do we mean

by saying that? A new book on metaphors in the New Testament takes on that literal versus

metaphorical dichotomy, claiming that it's a false dichotomy.

Considering that Paul's use of the term righteousness, decaiosune, itself is a metaphor.

And so is redemption and enslaved, which means that freedom itself is also a possible metaphor.
