Hi. Today is Friday in the first week of Lent. In this episode, we'll hear about the young Pope St. John Paul II, whose mother taught him that prayer is walking with God.

Do you like to go on walks? Are there special walks you like to go on? Maybe down to a creek or an

ice cream shop. When you want to walk with someone, you don't have to talk. You can just enjoy spending time with them.

When God first created Adam and Eve, he liked to walk with them in the Garden of Eden.

Isn't that wonderful?

When we pray, we can walk alongside Jesus, spending time with him.

St. John Paul II can teach us more about this.

Before St. John Paul II was Pope, or even called John Paul, he was a little boy named Carol.

He lived in Poland, and he didn't really understand what prayer was. One day, when he was about six years old,

he wanted to keep playing instead of praying with his family.

He thought the evening prayers his family prayed were hard to understand

and even a little bit boring.

He wanted to play hide-and-seek behind the living room curtains.
