Episode 10

St. Charbel

St. Charbel Hi.

This is your host, Kylie.

Today, I want to tell you about St. Charbel and what it means to make prayer into a conversation with God.

We've talked about prayer as spending time with Jesus, walking with him. But prayer is also a time

for Jesus to talk to us. It's a time for Jesus to tell you what he's excited for or what he's

thinking about. But how do we hear what Jesus has to say to us?

Jesus speaks to us in the silence of our hearts.

To hear him, you have to clear away any distraction.

Today's saint, St. Charbel, can be a good example for us.

200 years ago, in a mountain village in Lebanon, there was a little boy named Yusuf, who had one day become St. Charbel.

Yusuf helped his family by caring for their sheep and working in the fields. He loved the quiet of the mountains, and he liked to pray while he worked. Yusuf grew up to be a calm, gentle young man. His life was

happy, but he had one problem. He wanted to be a monk, but his mother wanted him to get married.
