Welcome to episode of episode 94 of the Charles C.W. Cook podcast. I am back from some travel,

0:30.1

some travel that took me out to Arizona, beautiful state. I spent some time in Arizona as a child because we had some family friends who lived in

0:41.4

Phoenix and I as a resort feel very comfortable there. Love the weather of the blue skies and the

0:51.2

palm trees and the Grand Canyon, which is, I always say, the most impressive

0:58.1

or least disappointing thing I've ever seen. At least disappointing sounds as if it is one of those

1:03.8

British veiled insults. But I mean that quite literally. Sometimes you go to see something that

1:09.5

you assume will be incredible,

1:11.6

and it's okay. I'm thinking of Mount Rushmore, for example. It's okay. But the Grand Canyon is

1:30.3

Can't paint it. You have to go and see it. And when you go and see it, you just, well,

1:44.2

I just thought about it when I was in Phoenix.

1:47.6

What I did do was take a trip in a Waymo.

1:52.0

So for those who don't know, a Waymo is a self-driving car that operates like an Uber or a taxi. You call one in the same manner as you would call

2:05.2

an Uber, but when it shows up, there's no one in it. It's a fairly nice car. It's a Jaguar.

2:10.7

I can play music for various streaming services while you're in it. You can adjust the temperature.

2:19.4

You can't talk, which is either a bonus or a floor,

2:23.1

depending on your perspective,

2:25.0

because there is no one in the driver's seat.

2:28.0

There is a steering wheel.

2:29.1

I assume so the car can be manually driven if needed,

2:33.8

and it turns on its own, and you're just sitting there thinking
