Welcome everybody to Crystal Kyland Friends. Today we're going to be talking to David Wallace-Wills.

Yep, New York Times, opinion writer, also contributor for New York Times magazine. He writes a newsletter

over there. He's author of a book called The Uninhabitable Earth, their plan, and I think the

Uninhabitable Earth, but very, very knowledgeable on where we are in the climate crisis. I think very

reason he's not going out of his way to be apocalyptic, although the news can be rather apocalyptic,

so he's going to break down for us where we are with the geopolitical ramifications are and what

the political outlook is. First of all, let me just say, I would not have led with New York Times

opinion writer because knowing me and our audience, they would have been like,

are you talking to New York Times opinion writer, but he's not your typical New York Times

debag. He's a good dude and he folk, again, it's all climate related and he's done some fantastic

work on it. He had the most red piece. Yes, so he wrote a piece and that was actually the genesis

of his book, which is called The Uninhabitable Earth, where he just lay down, okay, one degree of

warming, here's what it looks like, one and a half degrees of warming, here's what it looks like,

two degrees of warming, here's what it looks like, a lengthy piece for New York magazine,

and it was their most red story of all time, which in a way is encouraging because it shows you

there is a huge concern, appetite among the public, they want more content, they want to understand

what's going on, they're interested in solutions. Unfortunately, we have a terrible political system

that never allows any of those solutions to be ultimately implemented. Yes, now, speaking of a

terrible political system, obviously, as everybody knows, there's been a number of massacres that

happened lately, the terror attack in Buffalo, and then you have what happened in the school

when you evolved in Texas, and the conversation is what it normally is after these, which is you

have people on the Democratic side like, hey, maybe we should tighten up these gun laws a little

...
