In 2010, a term labelled Infidelity Plus was used to describe a defence for a murderer who killed their partner due to infidelity.

The UK Parliament said that the exposure of an affair

could not be used as a defence in court as it was not a reason to kill someone. These reports

mentioned men specifically, citing that killing a wife for infidelity was classic provocation

under the law prior to 2009.

The UK courts were littered with cases in which men blamed their partner's adultery for making them kill her.

But what was not mentioned in these reports was the increasing number of men who killed their affair partners

to keep their infidelity from their wives.

And in today's case, it's an example of how infidelity led to a tragic and senseless murder of a woman.

I'm Naomi Channel and this is real. You know, I'm sorry. Today's case takes us to Stoke-on-Trent in England.

28-year-old Samantha Eastwood was a talented woman.

She had trained as a midwife, and in 2018 2018 she was working in the maternity unit at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

She'd been in a relationship with a man called John Peake since 2010 and they were engaged to be married.

She'd picked out her wedding dress and the ceremony was booked,

and life was looking hopeful and exciting for Samantha. But in January 2018, their relationship

broke down and the wedding was called off and the couple split up, before she could wear the beautiful white lacy dress.

She listed it for sale on Facebook for £400,

stating that it had never been worn,

except for when she tried it on in the shop.

On the 27th of July, six months after the wedding was called off, Samantha worked a night shift on the maternity ward.
