Episode 61 How to be happy - the set point theory- Genetics versus experience

I explore 'set point theory' in todays podcast. Research shows that people shortly after winning tattslotto go back to the same level of happiness that they experienced before winning the money...why is that? Why doesn't the money make us feel happy? Some happiness philosophers in particular Martin Seligman believe that it is because of set point theory. A theory which proposes that we inherit a set level of happiness which does not have a lot of scope for movement. So how do we change our happiness levels? Not from possessions, money, or status but from experience.....
