Summary

We often use lying as a way to manage or control situations. We feel if we to tell the truth, we would be rejected or abandoned. It's important to reflect on why we are lying and learn how to speak our truth. This is how we have authentic, healthy relationships. In this episode, we dive deep into lying: understanding why people do it, and how we can stop this pattern.

Hello, and welcome back to the Self-Hailer Soundboard.

Last week we recorded an episode on adult bullying.

0:11.9

This was a direct request from you, the viewer, to open up a conversation about the experience

a perceived situation, which also happens to be another direct request from you, the

0:52.2

viewer, which was to do an episode specifically on lying as perception management.

1:09.4

I think before we even speak to the sharing of inaccurate or lies by omission, I think

1:15.6

that's another really common one that comes up, before we talk about delivering that

1:21.0

inaccurate or that untruth to someone else.

1:23.8

I think it's important to first focus this conversation on how honest we're being with

1:28.3

ourselves.

1:29.3

Even imagining how simple or easier it was for both you and I during the recording of

1:35.0

that episode, not to allow into our consciousness all of the different moments that I'll just

1:39.1

emit for myself right now.

1:41.2

I too have acted in a bullying way.

1:45.0

What I'm kind of inferencing here or acknowledging here is that sometimes we're not fully honest
