She just ran 6609 breaking her own American record in the half marathon in Houston.

So many exciting things to be excited about in her career and future. She was the 10,000 meter

champion at the Olympic trials last summer. She placed eighth in Paris in the 10,000. She runs with

Under Armour and Stephen Haas is her coach and agent. She's with the dark sky distance group in

Flagstaff. She has an incredible story.

I just, I can't even begin to describe what she has been through and what she has walked

through to get to where she is now.

In 2014, when she was just 17 years old, she traveled to Eugene Oregon from Eritrea,

which is her home country. She competed

in the 3,000 at the 2014 World Junior Championships. And following the race, she decided to stay

in the United States. She found a place to live in Leesburg, Virginia, and she ended up going to high school,

running for that high school where she did very well.

And she also got herself a job when she was there, learned English.
