Hello, and welcome back to another episode of the Feminist Mormon Housewives podcast.

I'm your host, Lindsay, and I'm bringing you another episode in the year of polygamy series

where we try to understand the practice of Mormon plural marriage.

If you've made it this far in the series, congratulations, and I bet you're tired of my voice,

but we're not quite done yet.

As you saw with the last episode with Kate Kelly, we were talking about sort of 1870s, 1880s, Utah.

And we're going to keep moving forward, and we're going to get into the manifesto. But before we do that,

I want to tell a story of a woman that I've been trying to tell for a long,

long time. In fact, this is my third time recording this story. I've had a really difficult

time talking about her. It's hard to explain why, but I think after you listen to this episode,

you'll understand why this was such a difficult episode to record and to research.

I will say right from the beginning, this is probably going to be, to my knowledge, one of the most gruesome episodes we have done yet.

I can't promise for the future because I haven't researched that far into the future yet, but as of now, this is the most gruesome, violent episodes I will record. This is not an episode you should listen to with young children in the room, and there will be multiple trigger warnings. We are going to be talking about some very,

very dark, terrible things. Most of them imagine conjecture, a lot of them invented, but some of them

not, which is probably the truest horror of it all. I want to talk about a woman. Often I do these sketches of the lives of

women, and I have many more in store. There are so many fascinating frontier women that I am honored

to talk about, and I feel the exact same way about this particular woman I'm talking about today.
