Hello and welcome back to another episode of the Feminist Mormon Housewives podcast.

I'm your host, Lindsay, bringing you another episode in the year of Plygony series,

where we try to understand the practice of Mormon plural marriage and learn the history

and see how it affects us today. And I'm excited to bring on a guest. You might have heard

of her. Her name is Kate Kelly. Kate, can you say hello? Hey, thanks for having me. Kate, I brought

you on to talk about polygamy. Yay. Hurray. So Kate's going to be on a few more episodes.

We're going to talk about human rights, but that one's going to be in the queue for a while because

we have a backup of regular episodes. I've got to get out there. But I've been wanting to do this episode with Kate for a long,

long time because I don't know if you know this about Kate, but she loves the topic of

women's suffrage, especially in the United States, correct?

True, very true. And we want to talk about how it interacts with Mormon polygamy.

I've been sort of teasing this in other episodes, but Mormon polygamy and suffrage are really connected.

Yeah, it's kind of crazy, actually, how tied they are.

Well, Kate, first, let's give everyone the sort of background of why this is

such an important subject to you. Do you want to tell us about that? Yeah, actually, this is a little

more touchy-feely. I want everyone to remember that I'm not a historian. I'm a human rights attorney

and an activist, but I'm not a historian. So if you hear any mistakes, just leave it in the comments because there probably will be mistakes.

But actually, I've been listening to your women in polygamy series, and I just, I love the podcast.

And I pretty much hate all other Mormon history.
